The Jury explained:
“The IDFA Award for Best Student Documentary goes to an utterly tender documentary about human persistence. A young director decides to make a film about one of the most agonizing historical practices of our world. In this genuine and soft-spoken exploration into unknown territory, there’s the flow that begins when women tell their stories, the healing that happens when she listens to her body in pain and in pleasure; and the magic that changes worlds when women decide to take back what was taken from them: in this case, their right to experience bodily pleasure. May we all tap into and spread the courage Beryl Magoko had while In Search!“
On Tuesday 13.11.18 Beryl Magoko received the
“Großer Kunstpreis der Freunde der KHM”
for her two films against FGM.
